Well, since there's been nothing that resembles news for several weeks, why not a little bit of speculation? Rumours are that One Night Only's third album is called Where The Sleepless Go, and this is the tracklist:
I'm The Sun
When You Call
Can't Cure My Appetite
Plasticine
TV
Got Its Charms
Erase
Wolves
Luck That Keeps You Guessing
Get Around To It
Tranquilise
Talk You Down
Paper Trail
Other things to note:
- No sign of Games, a song that was supposed to be released earlier this year but never turned up (but sounded incredible live - so it would be disappointing if it never surfaced!)
- Other songs that were indicated to be on the new album were called The Bittersweet, Ties We're Bound To and Night On Earth; these were taken from the same source - although Can't Cure My Appetite was also on this early list - so maybe (if this is true) the other songs got renamed... or there are a lot of B-sides out there!
- 13 songs seems like it might be a bit too much, but it's not like no one ever released a 13 track album before.
- The album is supposed to be less of the straightforward but epic pop of the last album, and more experimental... but time will tell.
- The album is slated for release in March/April 2014.

Where Is Everyone?
So I have been posting a lot less recently... mainly because none of the bands I follow are doing anything! After the release of The Twang's 10:20 today, I have no albums on the horizon to anticipate until January, when Biffy Clyro will grace our speakers with a double album! Whilst this time of year is usually barren in terms of releases, there is usually some form of news; some promise that music is coming soon, but in the latter end of 2012... nothing. So, while I'm scouring the Internet for new bands to enjoy in the meantime, I decided to have a catch-up on what all the other bands are doing, and of course provide the information here. So, where is everyone?
The Courteeners - Their third album has apparently been recorded, and are currently in the process of sorting out a promotional campaign to go with it. A few songs have been debuted live, but hopefully more will appear at the end of the year as the band are playing a few gigs then.
TRACK TITLES: Welcome To The Rave, Lose Control, Push Yourself, Save Rosemary In Time, Why Are You Still With Him?, Something You Can't Have
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: February
Delphic - The band have started playing gigs and started debuting some new songs to follow their Olympics single Good Life. Their second album has been recorded, but no word on where the release stands.
TRACK TITLES: Good Life, Atlas, Memeo, Baiya, Changes
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: April
Editors - After a re-jigging of their line-up for album number four, the band are now at work on said album. A few tracks have been played live to whet our appetites, and some have even gone through noticeable changes as the line-up changed. Hopefully some more details will arise around December as the band are playing XFM Winter Wonderland then.
TRACK TITLES: Sugar, Nothing, Two Hearted Spider, The Sting, Magazine, Upright, What Is This Thing Called Love?, Honesty, The Weight Of Your Love, Formaldehyde
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: April
Embrace - The band's sixth album has been in the pipeline for several years now, and promise something will appear soon, but there isn't much to go on, apart from one track title!
TRACK TITLES: Self Attack Mechanism
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: June
Glasvegas - After NME mistakenly reported a title for the band's third album, it came out that the album was practically done, but remained untitled. A song called If? was also put online in demo form.
TRACK TITLES: If?, I'd Rather Be Dead Than Be With You, Later... When The TV Turns To Static, All I Want Is My Baby
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: March
Hadouken! - Well, this one is taking forever. After two singles in 2010, which may not feature on the album, the band followed this up by another one in April, one in August, had another song feature on FIFA 13, did a collaboration with Drumsound & Bassline Smith, and also debuted three further songs at their live shows in April! That's practically an album in itself! Just release it already - the songs are fantastic!
TRACK TITLES: Vessel, Parasite, Mecha Love, Oxygen, Comedown, Bliss Out, Daylight, Levitate, Bad Signal, As One
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: April
Klaxons - Not too much info available on this one, but there is a third album, and the band have debuted two songs live.
TRACK TITLES: Rhythm Of Life, Invisible Forces
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: May
One Night Only - The band are slowly building up tracks for their third album, and are reportedly about halfway through the process. One song has been released (Long Time Coming) and another (Games) should surface soon... hopefully!
TRACK TITLES: Long Time Coming, Games, Night On Earth
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: August
The Pigeon Detectives - Firing out a fourth album not that long after their third, the band should be back sometime not far into the new year. However, nothing is really known about it! Maybe some of their gigs in November will reveal some more...
TRACK TITLES: I Don't Mind
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: March
White Lies - Nothing is known about this one, other than a third album is in the works, after two phenomenal ones. Let's hope it lives up to its predecessors!
TRACK TITLES: ?
ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE: September

One Night Only Announce New Single
One Night Only have announced that they will be releasing a new single, Long Time Coming, on 4th May, and posted the video for the track up this morning (see it below). The band are currently at work on their third album, which may or may not include Long Time Coming. Other tracks slated for the album are Games and Night On Earth.

New One Night Only EP?
There are rumours that One Night Only will release a new EP in November this year; I haven't seen anything concrete yet. It is unknown whether it will feature new songs or not. If it does feature new ones, it is possible the songs are Games, Long Time Coming and Night On Earth.
After their fantastic second album, I cannot wait to hear more...

Best Of 2010 - #1
One Night Only - One Night Only

Original full review here.
Yes, I know a lot of people will disagree, but this is exactly the type of music I love - absolutely HUGE electronic pop rock songs. They may not stray from a tried and tested formula or their set sound, but the eleven tracks on offer on this album are just stunning.
Opening track Say You Don't Want It is definitely the most surprising thing I've heard from a band this year. The band's last album, Started A Fire, was enjoyable but felt very incomplete, almost as though they'd just given up on it halfway through (although I only thought that after I heard this one). Then they come back with a song with an absolutely huge production courtesy of White Lies (my #2 in 2009) and Courteeners producer (my #4 this year) Ed Buller.
But despite that, Say You Don't Want It is nowhere near the best song. The two tracks that follow it, Bring Me Back Down and Forget My Name, are the most catchy, memorable pieces of electronic rock I've ever heard, along with Anything and Nothing Left, which turn up later in the album. The only one that took a bit of time to get used to was Can't Stop Now, which is now right up there with my favourites.
As I noted in my introduction to this list, 2010 hasn't been a great year as music I like is concerned. Comparing this with 2009's list, I would have only put it fourth or fifth. But let me take nothing away from it; it is still an incredible album, a massive improvement on the first (which I loved, but it's now living in the shadow of this one) and fully deserves the 10/10 I gave it.
SCORE

Previous albums: Started A Fire (9/10)
P.S. Merry Christmas!!! See you in 2011 for more music madness...

New One Night Only Track Already?
There is supposedly a new One Night Only track due to be released soon, even though their eponymous second album was only released last month. Whether this is true or not has yet to be confirmed.

Album Review: One Night Only - One Night Only
Album: One Night OnlyArtist: One Night Only
Singles: Say You Don't Want It, Chemistry, All I Want (free download)
After hearing the fantastic first single Say You Don't Want It around two months ago, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this album. Boasting a new 80s-influenced electronic sound with the synths becoming far more prominent in this album than their debut, the band return with a stunning album that really shows off their talent. The album is filled with potential singles, with all their instruments being turned up to eleven.
Say You Don't Want It
The immense first single hurtles along at incredible pace. This song sums up everything the album is keen to show off; powerful drums and guitar, the new synth-based sound, and a massive chorus to top it all off. The lyrics sound quite basic, but they work in a different way in that they stick in your head. A brilliant album opener, which should get you ready for the rest of the album.
Bring Me Back Down
Guitars and drums announce the arrival of another stadium-bound anthem, before settling down into a song that is occasionally laid-back but then changes for a heavier, rockier chorus to rear its head. However, at just over three minutes, it's over too soon. But never mind, here comes...
Forget My Name
The best song on offer here, in my opinion. Like Say You Don't Want It, it wastes no time getting going. One second in and all the instruments (bar vocals) are working at full capacity, and this sounds like it was built to played at a stadium. It's one of the more rockier songs on the album, and it would be criminal not to release it as a single - it's mindblowing.
Chemistry
Four songs in and I think I'm already in love with this album - but I remembered the band's debut, which I loved, but felt that all the best songs were thrown in at the start. Thankfully, this album's still going strong (and keeps it up). This song is the second single, and while I think Forget My Name would have been a better choice for second single, this one deserves it all the same. It's similar to Bring Me Back Down in that it sounds quite relaxed in the verses, and then turns into an epic, storming chorus complete with backing vocals.
Never Be The Same
Although now the album gives the listener a bit more room to breathe after four massive songs, this song remains an epic masterpiece. A beautiful, etheral synth sound starts up, and the first minute of the song really highlights singer George Craig's vocals. Then after the chorus of "All these clouds, high above you, I guess it's gonna rain...", a fast-paced, powerful drumbeat turns up. The song just goes up and up from there. It's probably not single material, but it is absolutely magnificent nonetheless.
All I Want
This song is great, despite not bringing anything new to the table. Maybe that's because I've grown used to it as it was a free download over a month ago, but it was a good choice for a free download as it showcases everything the album is about. The vocals are probably the best part of this song (even though everything remains at a very high standard), particularly during the chorus of "All I want is something to believe in, even if it's just to hear your name...".
Got It All Wrong
Over halfway already? What? How did that happen? Anyway... This song is quite frenetic with a racy drumbeat and another huge chorus, as well as being the longest song on offer this album at four and a half minutes. I really like this song, but it is the weakest on the album for me. But it's very hard to pick out a least favourite song, as they're all excellent!
Anything
Again, the band throw the listener straight in at the deep end with everything crashing over everything else to create another outstanding song. Like most of this album, the song was designed to be massive, and it delivers. As usual, the hook is incredibly memorable and catchy, this time with lyrics of "We could have anything, they make us all believe..." This would definitely be a good choice for a later single.
Nothing Left
One of my favourites, it sounds slightly calmer than the last couple of tracks. In my opinion, along with Never Be The Same, the lyrics are at their peak here, and the vocals are also fantastic particularly during the bridge ("Cos I don't understand it, I always thought I would...") and the chorus ("No matter what, I'll never let you go"). The opening lyric of the song seems like a great way to describe the changes between the debut album (Started A Fire) and this one - "Don't want to stand still, gotta move ahead..." And also, the title of the song hasn't simply been lifted from the chorus for once! (I don't really care, though). It leaves a lasting impression, and is definitely one of the best on the album.
Feeling Fine
The penultimate track sounds quite poppy, with guitars only really making an appearance in the chorus, although it does turn up here and there. It's another fast song, and it feels like one last burst of energy before a slightly calmer last track (although that also has its moments). Speaking of which, it's hard to believe you've been through ten tracks; the album races past so fast. Then suddenly this song ends abruptly as the synths bring in the final song:
Can't Stop Now
The album ends with a song that starts off slow and builds up and up before a piano closes the whole masterpiece of an album down. Once again, the fast-paced drums that come in after about a minute really carry the song, a feature noticeable all over the album. And then the final note on the piano is played, and the album comes to a peaceful end.
At first I thought self-titling the album was rather unimaginative, but I now think it was done because with this reinvention, they have become the band they always should have been. Their debut was very good, in my opinion, but compared to this, a lot of the songs lacked a certain kick to really get them going, and the band have taken this on board and created one of the best albums I've heard all year. Since I love all eleven tracks and the two petty criticisms I have either don't really bother me or don't have a bearing on the music itself (The criticisms are that a) The lyrics are rather simple, but they really leave a mark and are very memorable, so it really doesn't make a difference to me, and b) The album never calms down, but it keeps up the pace fantastically and never gets boring, and the songs are all brilliant anyway), I will happily give this album a 10/10.

Hear Two New Songs From One Night Only
You can hear two new songs from One Night Only's forthcoming second album here. The four-track album sampler contains Say You Don't Want It and All I Want, which have been previously released, and then also Bring Me Back Down and Forget My Name. Sounds absolutely amazing!

Single Review: One Night Only - Say You Don't Want It
Artist: One Night Only
Single: Say You Don't Want It
From the album One Night Only
In a word... wow. I thought their first album had some good songs, and I liked all of them, but nothing jumped out at me as amazing. This, on the other hand, when I first heard it on Radio 1, jumped at me immediately. There is an instant and huge change recognisable in the band's sound, and they have improved to the extent that it's almost unbelievable. This song boasts an incredibly catchy chorus, which I found I was singing along to without realising a few minutes later. I cannot find fault with it, personally, and if this is a sign of things to come on their new album, I reckon I could be in for one of the best listens of the year.

One Night Only - Album 2 Speculation
I think I now have all eleven tracks that will be on One Night Only's second album (however, not in the right order - I've had a wild guess as to what order the songs will be in) and which one will be the opening single. The band finished recording the album in early March, and performed six new songs live at the SXSW festival in mid-March.
1. Forget My Name (03:44) - Performed live at the SXSW festival in March 2010 - sounds like it could be my favourite (but I've only heard snippets of songs or live versions, not a complete version as of yet)
2. Anything (04:04) - Performed at SXSW as well - have heard about a minute of it.
3. Never Be The Same (04:00) - I have no information on this song.
4. Say You Don't Want It (04:07) - This is the one I think will be the first single. It was performed live at SXSW as well.
5. All I Want (03:31) - Performed at SXSW as well - but haven't found any footage of it
6. Chemistry (03:58) - The fifth out of the six performed live at SXSW - have heard around 20 seconds of it.
7. Got It All Wrong (04:29) - The last of the six performed live at SXSW, but no footage.
8. Feeling Fine (03:45) - I have no information on this song.
9. Bring Me Back Down (03:18) - I have no information on this song.
10. Never Let You Go (04:14) - I have no information on this song.
11. Can't Stop Now (04:23) - I have no information on this song.
I'm going to predict an early June release for the single, followed by the album in late June / early July. But I have nothing to back that up, it's just a guess.

One Night Only Track Titles?
Yes I know it's been a while since I posted, but I have terrible Internet connections, so don't expect much from me in the future. Anyway, for those One Night Only fans out there, I may have stumbled across some tracks apparently being recorded for the album due out in the summer. However, some may be wrong. Note: there will be 11 tracks on this album.
These ones were the ones I stumbled upon, apparently all on the second album.
Forget My Name
Nothing Left
Anything
Bring Me Back Down
Never Be The Same
Heartbeat
Feeling Fine
Got It All Wrong
Add these to the confirmed ones:
Day Dream
This Is A Hurricane
Live It Up
Say You Don't Want It - confirmed as being recorded
Intention Confidential
Holiday - confirmed as being recorded
From what I've heard from their ONO Wednesday teasers, this is shaping up to be a good album.

Albums And Stuff
Editors are in the studio, preparing their album for a July release. Two tracks are known: Bird of Prey, and In The Light And On This Evening.
The Sunshine Underground have finished their second album, and it looks to be released late May/early June. Tracks that may be on the album are the three previewed here (first one unknown, second one possibly being Any Minute Now, third one In Your Arms), along with An Introduction, Fall In Line, Coming To Save You and Change Your Mind. In Your Arms will be track 4, and Change Your Mind will be track 6. There will be 10 tracks. Potential album title is Give Me A Warning. Whew... that was a lot.
Arctic Monkeys are putting the finishing touches to their album, which includes tracks such as Pretty Visitors, Dangerous Animals, Crying Lightning and Go-Kart.
One Night Only are recording album 2, which will include tracks Intention Confidential, Daydream and Tonight.
The Twang are recording album 2, which will include tracks Put It On The Dance Floor, Got No Interest, Encouraging Sign, Back Where We Started and Live The Life You Love.
and
Klaxons finished their second album - only to be forced to go back and re-record four or five songs because of them being "too experimental." Tracks include Valley Of The Calm Trees, Moonhead, In Silver Forest and Imaginary Pleasures.

Best Of 2008 (#10-#6)
10. The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement
I knew this would be good as soon as I heard The Age Of The Understatement, the wonderful title track which opens this album. Almost every song is good or even better, but other than the fact that one or two don't interest me personally, I cannot think of any bad things to say. Brilliant.
SCORE: 8/10
9. The Pigeon Detectives - Emergency
The fantastic Wait For Me, their debut, was released less than a year before this one. All the songs are great Pigeon Detectives songs, but in some places it sounds a bit rushed. Nevertheless, the songs are all excellent. Highlights include This Is An Emergency, Keep On Your Dress, Say It Like You Mean It and the closer Everybody Wants Me.
SCORE: 8/10
8. Ladytron - Velocifero
After getting into this band, after hearing their third album, Witching Hour, I was sure that this one would be even better. Although I think that it's not, it's still a brilliant album. Black Cat sets the pace for the album and it never lets up. Ghosts follows it, an incredibly catchy song that made me want to listen again and again. But I think that it's not a huge improvement on Witching Hour, and I would have given that one 8/10. So:
SCORE: 8/10
7. Keane - Perfect Symmetry
This album is by far their best. The eighties sound on opening track Spiralling really gets me going, and then great songs such as Better Than This, the beautiful Perfect Symmetry or Black Burning Heart makes this well worth a listen.
SCORE: 9/10
6. One Night Only - Started A Fire

6. One Night Only - Started A Fire
A great debut. Although most of the songs sound too much the same, they are all great. An odd one is Sweet Sugar, where George Craig mumbles on about the chemical formula for glucose in describing his lover. Seriously, why? (It's still a good song, it's just odd.) Also, what's with the three minutes of keyboard sounds at the end of Hide? These oddities aside, the album is still fantastic.
SCORE: 9/10
